ET Cherry Creek Farms LLC. is nestled along the base of Cherry Creek Peak in Richmond, Utah. This 20 acre ranch was established in 1996 by Eric and Tamra Jorgensen. Eric and I were not raised on farms but fell in love with the farm values our grandparents taught us. Work hard with honesty doing the best you can with what you have. We purchased 20 acres in the foothills east of Richmond, Utah in 1996 and started our dream. We worked along side our children teaching them our work ethic while we learned. We started out with an old Allis Chalmers WD45 with a sickle bar mower. We have come a little ways since then, purchasing old equipment and restoring/fixing them to make work a little easier. We talked to our neighbors and built great relationships with them. Pretty soon we were renting and farming land for our neighbors which they didn't have any use for. We now rent over 100 acres of land from various families producing approximately 60 tons of hay yearly. We work hard to produce something you can truly enjoy. As Jack Kloppenburg, professor of rural sociology from the University of Wisconsin said in the book "Hopes Edge", "taste is not merely in our taste buds, but in our knowledge. Knowledge adds to our pleasure in eating."
Our farm specializes in registered Dexter Cattle, a heritage breed (originating from Ireland), and Boer Goats (originating from South Africa). Our heritage Dexter cattle were chosen for excellent finishing qualities on grass without the use of growth supplements and grain. It is low in fat, highly flavor-able and tender with pasture grazing. Our Boer Goats provide an excellent source of nutrition which here in the United States is rarely consumed. High in Omega 3 it is a very heart healthy choice red meat. Although our Boer goats are not registered, rest assured they have been chosen from registered stock to supply the best quality products right to your table.

Boer goats:
In 2013 Cherry Creek Farms introduced packaged goat meat to our customers at farmers markets. Our animals eat the natural brush and grass located on our farm. Boer goats have been bread to produce meat. These animals dress out at 50-80 lbs. at 8-12 months of age. The meat is tender, juicy and mild tasting with less grease than lamb although having similar cuts. Boer’s graze on the foothills all year long on our farm. We only grain as a treat, being used to move and handle the flock. When you purchase Boer goat meat from us it is a natural product.
Chevon, or Goat Meat, is a delicious red meat that can be eaten stewed, baked, grilled, barbecued or made into sausage or jerky. Chevon can be eaten from any age of goat, depending upon your preference. Chevon is popular because it is low in fat and cholesterol and high in Omega 3's. Similar in taste to beef and pork but without the strong taste of lamb. Chevon is lower in cholesterol than rabbit, venison or beef. The saturated fat in cooked goat meat is 40% less than that of chicken, even with the skin removed. It is 50-60% lower in fat than similarly prepared beef, but has the same or more protein content.
